Regional Impact: Our organization is 36 years strong in Grand Forks with both audiences and singer membership drawn locally and regionally. An auditioned, regional choral organization, our mission is to expand the role of choral music in the cultural life of the region, to engage community members, music professionals, and students through music education and mentoring, and to enrich the lives of areas residents through performance. We frequently partner with other organizations to bring high-quality choral music to audiences of all ages. The Grand Forks Chorales has a history of collaboration with the Grand Cities Children's Choir, UND Concert Choir, Greater Grand Forks Symphony, Global Friends Coalition and many more.
As we implement our current strategic plan, we look to continue expanding partnerships with community and regional arts, education and service organizations, and to offering outreach concerts. Another way in which we support the community is by periodically providing free admission to the families of those in the military and the National Guard, to members of the Grand Cities Children's choir and, on occasion, Grand Forks Senior Citizens.
Summary of Need: The Grand Forks Chorales presents four concerts for the community each season. One of our constant expenses is the cost of purchasing the sheet music. With a total singer membership of 57 this season, as well as instrumentalist support these costs can quickly add up. Our organization would be so grateful for and impacted by a donation to cover the expense of purchasing sheet music for two of our concerts: 200th Anniversary of Clara Schumann (a celebration of women composers) which is budgeted for $600; and our themed February concert, Java & Delights, also budgeted for $600 for music. A donation for one or both concerts would allow us to redistribute that budget to other areas of pressing need.
