Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a beloved early childhood literacy program that delivers free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five. Once enrolled, each child receives a brand-new, age-appropriate book each month - addressed to them and delivered right to their home. The program continues until their fifth birthday, inspiring a lifelong love of reading and learning from the very start.

Founded by Dolly Parton herself, the Imagination Library’s mission is simple but powerful: to ensure that every child - regardless of their family’s income - has access to books in the home and the joy of shared reading experiences.

Right now, this life-changing program is not yet available to all families in Grand Forks County. As the official Local Program Partner, we’re working to change that - but we need your help.

We're aiming to raise $90,000 to fully launch the Imagination Library across Grand Forks County. Your support can make that happen.
  • $35 sponsors one child for a full year of books.
  • You can give a one-time gift, set up a recurring donation, or make a multi-year pledge.

Make a Pledge

Help us ensure the sustainability of the Imagination Library for years to come! Utilize our pdf or online form to pledge an annual gift to the Imagination Library Special Project Fund. Pledge invoices will be mailed on the schedule that you indicate on the form.

What is the Need?

Countless studies document the relationship between early literacy and school performance.  By providing the children of our community with quality, age-appropriate books, we seek to:
  • increase children's access to books,
  • encourage parents to read more often to their children,
  • support children in the development of a love for reading, and
  • better prepare children to begin school.
